Yesterday my son turned 7 months.  I thought the first 3-4 months were tough.  This wasn't even because we had a tough baby.  He was actually a terrific baby (the 3rd month was the most difficult).  I just don't feel like I hear enough new moms say that the first several months are tough just due to the transition.  Going from being completely independent, seeing a movie whenever you want, doing exercise whenever you want, all these situations are things of the past.  Then there's the hormones coming into play as well as figuring our the new dynamic between you and your partner.  All of these things make for a bumpy road.  You're physically exhausted and trying to develop a new routine.  Needless to say it can be trying.  BUT, I am here to tell you that at just about 6 months you start to get into a really fun age.  They begin developing their personalities and you start to see a glimpse of what your child is going to be like.  Your baby is probably starting to play with you and toys.  The experience is indescribable!  At 7 months our son is beginning to babble all the time.  Just a few days ago he started staying his first consonant over and over, "da, da, da." - to which of course, my husband thinks he's trying to say, "Dada!"  He can keep on dreaming!  But, the highlight of this week was last night.  I had gotten home late after my JC appointment and had uttered a quick hi as I walked past my husband and son so I could drop off all my JC groceries.  I had my back to the sink washing my hands and when I turned around there was my husband holding Baby B who flashed me the largest smile.  Currently he laughs and smiles all the time.  But this was different.  It was a smile of recognition - like, that's my mom.  He put his little hands unsteadily out towards me and my heart melted.  It's tons of these little moments even during the first few months that are hard for some women, that will get you through more difficult times.  Oh yeah, and did I mention I lost 1.1 pounds last night?  That means that my 2 glasses of wine last week and my exercise twice last week didn't cause me to gain!

JC Chicken Parmesan

Salad (mixed greens, peppers, tomatoes) 2 tbsp. light ranch

Snack -

JC Chocolate Chip Snack Bar
