So I think it would be a good idea to write about some of the things people don't really tell you to prepare for after the birth. LOL, however, part of my blog appears on facebook and I am just imagining the first three sentences that pop up to have the words vagina written all over them! Maybe it will be an attention grabber? Shoot, who am I kidding, that's incredibly embarrassing to have a discussion about my vagina posted all over facebook! Ah, well, the whole point of my blog is to be real, right? I guess we'll get down to it then: if you deliver vaginally your vagina is going to HURT for a considerable amount of time. It is going to be so swollen you can hardly sit on it. The first few days you will basically be using a diaper to help contain the amount of blood coming out of you. Maybe I'm a wimp but 4 IBUProfen were not doing it for me. I was taking Percocet every four hours for the pain. It was the only way I could sit. I hate taking pain pills and tried to avoid it but then I was just miserable. I think I only took them the first week and then I was able to last on over the counter medication. Your vagina will be so swollen when you go to the rest room you will not be able to wipe in between the skin. You will need a water bottle the hospital gives you to make sure you are clean after you go every time. Wondering about exercising or sex? I started walking after two weeks. It hurt like you wouldn't believe but I am devoted to getting rid of this baby weight. I gained 37 pounds while pregnant and have lost 20 of it. However, when I did the injections before getting pregnant I gained 8. So I have a total of the 8 plus 15 from being pregnant to bring me to a grand total of 23 pounds to lose. Ugh. I know 2 weeks seems a little early but I just did some light walking and now I'm almost into 4 weeks and did my first hike and workout video. I've been craving some exercise that really gets my heart rate up since I've been pregnant. Let's face it, I didn't have an easy pregnancy and I've been CRAVING to get my appetite, body, and work outs back to normal. I just did my first 40 minute work out video today and even though my vagina is still swollen and I have a few stitches in it I just took it easy. Any kind of crazy leg exercise I kept to a minimum. Now, as for sex, that's not happening for quite awhile. I thought maybe in week 3 it could be tried...that is still an absolute no. Stitches plus swollen = way too painful still! I guess the doctors are not kidding when they say at least 6 weeks. I see the doctor for my 6 week check up in two weeks so maybe there will be a vast improvement by then. I know this is a lot of information about myself but like I said, I feel like people didn't really talk about the aftermath and I feel think it's important for people that have never experienced childbirth to have a clue as to what they may expect!
